Or the domain you're connected to isn't related at all to the domain the exchange server is on.īOTH cases apply to me at different times If it isn't, your IT team is lazy, or your company is too cheap to upgrade from their really old version of Exchange. Yeah, but autoconfiguration SHOULD be working. So, if that doesn't work for you for what ever reason, then it's no good. So I guess I will stick with 2010 as I already have paid for it - unless anyone can come up with some super convincing argument against.Ī potentially good reason to NOT upgrade to Outlook 2016 is, for Exchange connection it can only be configured by auto configuration. I know I can choose what updates to install or not, but that was just getting to be a waste of my time, and sometime in the last month or two I found that my main PC would only update at all if I left it on automatic. And for components that I don't actually use, or even have installed.

What made me start thinking about this was the excessive amounts of security updates I keep getting hit with for Office 2010. So for me its essentially a word processor. I dont use Outlook for email, and dont really use spreadsheets that much. I moved from Office 2007 to 2010 and found it had a couple of genuinely useful new features and seemed nicer to use. I was wondering the very same thing recently.
